Services
Five areas of work for television newsrooms, from crews on location to training and workflow reviews.
Five services built around the daily news cycle
glamorixa works with television newsrooms that need reliable video without a long lead-in. Our services cover shooting on location, studio interviews, same-day editing, training for camera staff and a close look at how stories move through your building.
Breaking-News Camera Crews
Experienced camera operators and producers who travel to a developing story and send broadcast-ready footage back to your desk.
Studio Interview Production
Lit and framed studio interviews and portrait set-ups for news programmes, with clean sound and a consistent look.
Newsroom Workflow Reviews
A practical review of how stories move from tip to broadcast, with written recommendations for your editors and producers.
Rapid Edit and Turnaround
Same-day editing of news packages, including trimming, captioning and delivery in the formats your channel needs.
Camera Technique Training
Hands-on workshops for reporters and camera staff on handheld shooting, framing and lighting under time pressure.
Most clients combine two or three of these. Tell us about your newsroom and the stories you cover, and we will talk through what fits before anything is written down.
ContactBreaking-News Camera Crews
This service is for editors who need pictures from a developing story and have nobody nearby. An operator and producer travel to the scene, shoot to your brief and send footage back so your desk can go to air.
Contact
- Briefing before travel
- We take the story outline, your preferred shot style and a named contact on your desk. A short call settles who approves what, so the crew is not waiting for answers on location.
- Shooting on location
- The operator works handheld or on a tripod, depending on the ground. We record clean sound, cutaways and establishing shots alongside the main action, so your editors have material to build a package from.
- Sending footage back
- Files go to your desk in the format and by the route you agree beforehand. We label clips plainly and note anything your legal or standards team may want to check.
- Producer on the ground
- The producer handles access, spoken permissions and notes on who said what. That leaves the operator free to concentrate on the picture and keeps your desk informed as events change.
Have ready the story outline, a desk contact who can answer the phone, your delivery format and any restrictions on filming. The more we know, the less time is lost on the day.
From first enquiry to delivered footage
Our working method is the same whether the job is a single interview or a week of coverage. We keep the steps short, put agreements in writing and leave you with material your desk can use straight away.
Questions we hear often
These are the points editors and producers raise most when they first contact us. If yours is not here, send it through the contact page.
- Can you work to our channel's technical specification?
- Yes. Send us your delivery specification before the job and we will confirm what we can match. If something needs a different workflow, we say so in the quotation rather than on the day.
- How do we ask for a crew?
- Use the contact form on the contact page and describe the story, the location and the programme. We reply in writing with questions or a quotation. Nothing is booked until you confirm that quotation.
- Do you only work with large broadcasters?
- No. We work with newsroom teams of different sizes, including small regional desks. What matters is that the brief is clear and the delivery format is agreed.
- Who will actually work on our job?
- The people named on our team page. Gareth usually shoots on location, Megan edits, Rhian plans production and Iwan carries out workflow reviews. We do not hand work to unnamed freelancers without telling you.
- What does a workflow review involve?
- Iwan looks at how stories move from first tip to broadcast, talks to editors and producers, and writes recommendations. You receive a document you can act on, not a general report.
- Can training be held at our newsroom?
- Workshops are hands-on and focused on handheld shooting, framing and lighting under time pressure. We can discuss location and group size when you enquire, and we agree the content with you beforehand.
- How does payment work?
- After you confirm the written quotation, we send an invoice and you pay by bank transfer. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which is linked from the footer.
- Can you edit footage that someone else shot?
- Yes. Rapid Edit and Turnaround covers trimming, captioning and delivery of packages, whoever shot the material. Tell us the length, style and format you need and we confirm what is practical.
