Questions and answers

Answers to what editors and producers ask us first

How our crews work on a developing story, how footage reaches your desk, what training involves and how ordering and payment are handled, set out in plain terms.

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions newsroom editors and producers raise most often before commissioning us. If yours is not covered, the contact page is the quickest way to ask.

  1. How quickly can a camera crew reach a developing story?

That depends on where the story is and who is free that day. We are based in Bangor and travel mainly across North Wales and the surrounding region. When you call, we tell you honestly whether we can get there in time, and we do not promise a slot we cannot keep.

  2. In what format does footage reach our desk?

We deliver in the formats your channel specifies, agreed when you commission the work. Raw material and finished packages can both be sent, with captions and basic metadata where requested. If your ingest system has particular requirements, tell us beforehand and we will test a short file with you first.

  3. Can you edit and deliver a package on the same day?

Yes, same-day editing is a core part of what we do. Megan Owen edits our daily packages, covering trimming, captioning and delivery. The timing depends on how much material there is and when it arrives, so we agree a realistic delivery time at the point of commissioning.

  4. Do you only work with large television newsrooms?

No. We work with newsrooms of different sizes, including small regional teams without a spare camera operator. What matters is that the story needs reliable footage or a clearer workflow, not the size of the channel commissioning it.

  5. What does a newsroom workflow review involve?

Iwan Davies looks at how a story moves from first tip to broadcast, speaking with editors and producers and watching the process as it runs. You then receive written recommendations that your team can act on. We describe where time is lost and suggest changes that fit your existing tools.

  6. Who attends the camera technique training?

The workshops are aimed at reporters and camera staff who shoot under time pressure. Gareth Pritchard leads them, covering handheld shooting, framing and lighting. We adjust the content to the group's experience, so please tell us beforehand whether the participants are new to cameras or simply want to sharpen their habits.

  7. How are your services priced?

Prices are listed on the Prices page, in pounds sterling, with what each service includes and what can change the figure. The estimate tool there gives a guide only. The exact amount is confirmed in writing after we have heard the details of your request.

  8. How do ordering, payment and cancellation work?

Send an enquiry through the contact page and we reply with a written quotation or confirmation. After the work, we issue an invoice to be paid by bank transfer. Nothing is paid on this website. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which you can read on its own page.

Working practice

How we handle a story from first call to delivery

Most questions come down to the same concern: will the material be right, and will it arrive when the programme needs it. These notes explain the choices we make to keep that promise realistic.

Accuracy first

A fast story is still a story that must be right. Our crews capture context shots, location details and sound that let your editors check and caption with confidence. We note what we saw and where, and we flag anything we could not confirm on the spot. If we are unsure of a detail, we say so rather than leaving your desk to guess.

Speed without shortcuts

Speed comes from preparation, not haste. Kit is checked before we leave, formats are agreed before we shoot, and files are named so your ingest team can find them quickly. On location, we keep communication short and regular, telling you what we have, what is still coming and when the first usable material will be with you.

Clear working agreements

Before any job begins, we confirm in writing what is being shot or edited, the delivery format and the price. That keeps expectations plain for both sides and avoids surprises on the invoice. If a story changes while we are on it, we tell you promptly and agree any adjustment with you before carrying on.
